Cafe Knits

Hello from Ben & Jerry’s!

Today has been great so far. I must say I am amazed with myself for accomplishing quite a few activities and its not even end of the day yet.

Went for a facial earlier this morning, then grabbed some shopping from Takashimaya and hopped right down to Cathay Ben & Jerry’s for a couple of hours of knitting all by myself!

Ah, this is bliss for me. Nothing can bother me nor disrupt my cafe knitting.

Hope the day will get better for me later.

Have a happy weekend :)

Don’t you love the way Cola rests? He looks happy all the the time.

Seems such a bliss for him.

Moved…www.knittyger.com

Dear friends,

I’ll be updating my blog over at www.knittyger.com

Drop by my new address soon :)

Doraemon Saga

He is having an identity crisis.

The Lunar New Year (LNY) is around the corner and the retail, F&B sectors are all coming out strong with various promotions to attract more customers.

McDonald’s has launched its Zodiac Doraemons early January. A Straits Times reader wrote in to complain about not being able to get the “pig” zodiac sign for her daughter, which was replaced by a Doraemon called “Cupid”. I supposed it was to be the “Cupid” as LNY falls on Valentine’s Day, I think. Oh well, there were some sensitivities to the issue which I shall not highlight here. Nevertheless,  it was reported in the news today that McDonald’s decided to include the “Pig” charm into the menu, due to overwhelming feedback from the public.

But they will only be available mid-April, to the disappointment of many. I;m glad Mc did the turnaround, despite its good intentions. Anyway, the funds from the sales will be donated, so I’m happy to get a couple.

Greens & Blooms

Have a cheery mid-week and don’t forget to appreciate the nature around you.

I Love Noodles

All kinds of noodles, especially this … yums…

Power of Great Music

Have not checked out the arts and music scene for some time.

Looking forward to attending a concert next weekend. R&B. This guy has worked with many big names in pop and R&B music, e.g, Patti Austin, Barry White, Peabo Bryson, Dolly Parton, Natalie Cole, Michael Jackson etc.

Catch me for an update next week.

On a supposedly crowded Saturday afternoon at Plaza Singapore, one would expect the fast food joints to be filled up. Burger King, KFC, LJS, MOS Burger…yes, there were no available tables. Surprising, Yoshinoya was only one-third filled.

I guess this is not a place for quick bites but rather more suited to hungry people who needs a beef bowl or ebi tempura bento.

They were playing nice ambient music you might find in some spas. The selection of music was a bit odd but I’m certainly not complaining. Its rather peaceful and relaxing to sit in a corner, sip hot tea and concentrate on my knits. Oh well, I might as well do a bit of mobile blogging first to see if this works with my handphone.

I’m actually getting sleepy from the music. Ops. Should start knitting soon.

WIP – Metal-lic

The pattern from Vogue Knitting (VK) Spring/Summer ’09 is called “Tank Top”. Not very inspiring, as with many other VK patterns. Anyway, I shall call it the Metal-lic, given the colour of the yarn I’m using. Still not very exceptional too, haha. Oh well, I’m not getting much inspiration these days anyway.

The pattern begins from bottom up, with a twisted rib. Using twisted rib (knit into the back loop) creates a more distinct ribbing.

This is one of the easiest knits, no-nonsense, simple, knit and purl
sleeveless tank. The pattern does not require much shaping, except for the waist and bust areas, with simple decreases and increases respectively. Remember the knitted bangle I did sometime back? I’m using the same yarn
for this project.

I am on my second skein of Katia Savanna, and look how much yardage just one skein has given. With some perserverence, this should be completed before Chinese New Year in Feburary, I hope. I don’t have much time to knit up any dresses for Chinese New Year, and I am also not intending to shop for new clothes, so perhaps this project, if completed in time, can come in handy.

I’m thinking of pairing it up with black jeans and flats for a simple, causal look.

So its back to more knitting  tonight :)

Being Focused

Update on my progress so far:

1. I am still knitting, despite the lack of finished items. And yes, that is the same knitted cropped cardy that I’ve started months ago. I’ve decided to make this project 1st priority. And guess what, I have finished the individual pieces so now it is a matter of sitting down to piece them together.

2. Trying very hard to take better photos. Still at a loss over aperture priority and technical jargon, but I must say I am taking whatever free time I have to read up a bit about digital photography.

3. I’m still a crazy multi-tasker. Or techincally having ADHD. I’m blogging, reading blogs, knitting and munching at the same time.

4. My Karabella wrap is growing in length daily. I have a positive feeling about it being completed within the next 2 weeks or so.
